The terrace season is the perfect time to generate extra revenue and leave a lasting impression on guests. A well-designed terrace acts like a magnet: it attracts, surprises and invites guests to stay. But what makes a terrace truly successful, and what should you avoid?

As a hospitality interior wholesaler, we know exactly what works (and what doesn’t). That’s why we’re happy to share 3 dos and 3 don’ts that will make your terrace irresistible.

Do #1: Create atmosphere and experience

First impressions count. Guests often instinctively choose a place that feels right. So make sure your terrace exudes atmosphere: think warm lighting, natural materials, colour accents and comfortable seating. Combine stylish parasols with atmospheric lighting and furniture that is both comfortable and sturdy. Also, match your terrace to the interior design inside. This way, everything will form a beautiful whole.

Do #2: Respond to your target group

Not every terrace service concept is the same. Design your terrace based on your guests. Are they quick coffee drinkers or do they linger over their meals? Create variety with high tables for a quick drink and low lounge chairs for those who come to relax. Flexible furniture, (light, stackable and easy to move) makes a world of difference.

Do #3: Keep it practical and welcoming

An attractive terrace is also functional. Make sure there is enough walking space for staff, stable tables (such as with our Flat Equalizers, because a wobbly glass is a no-go) and easy-to-operate sun blinds. Everything should invite guests to stay longer, from seating comfort to smooth service.

Don’t #1: Deteriorating your terrace

Nothing is as unattractive as a dirty table, a wobbly chair or a broken parasol. Make sure your terrace always looks fresh and well-maintained. For many guests, it is their first impression of your business, and you want to make a good one.

Don’t #2: Stuffing everything

More tables does not automatically mean more turnover. A full terrace can quickly feel chaotic. Leave space for movement and overview. Good routing, sufficient distance between tables and a clear layout ensure tranquillity and hospitality.

Don’t #3: Remaining boring or impersonal

A terrace without character is not inviting. Choose a style that suits your hospitality business and implement it consistently. Whether it’s urban, boho or classic French, dare to create your own atmosphere. Guests remember places with personality.

Your unique terrace
A successful terrace is more than just a row of tables and chairs. It is the calling card of your business, where experience, functionality and hospitality come together. Invest wisely, be creative and dare to innovate. This is where the most beautiful summer memories begin. Bring on the sun, your terrace is ready!
