All year summer vibes

Lounge club Valencia in Deventer takes you to another world.

Over the past 12 years they became colleagues, companions and good friends. This already resulted in three successful restaurants in Deventer; Jackies, NO11 and The Lemon Tree. Despite being restaurant owners themselves, they have not lost their passion for good food and drink. The three men still go out regularly. Their favorite? Club restaurants that are systematically right. Down to every detail. Antwerp, Ibiza, The Hague, Curaçao, you name it and the gentlemen know where to find the most beautiful hotspots or find inspiration. And on the beach of Curaçao, during “the golden hour,” the men were dreaming. The time when you enjoy the most beautiful colors and best vibes, that was the moment the idea for a lounge club was born. 

Dreaming together (making it happen)

“How great would it be if the three of us opened a lounge club? If we created a vibrant place where we could experience the feeling of ‘the golden hour’ over and over again? A sunset that stays with you. A meeting place where you go for a summer happy feeling and can experience the outdoors inside. And all in Deventer.”

That dream came true. That place became Loungeclub Valencia, international allure in Deventer. In the middle of the Havenkwartier, guests can experience this unique all-year summer concept. In a Mediterranean atmosphere, guests spontaneously walk in for a drink or enjoy the most delicious tapas dishes. No big plates full of fuss, but honest sharing dishes that is the signature of the kitchen. Small works of art, surprising flavors.

If you can dream it, we can create it

The signature of the interior design concept? Decorating the space effectively and attractively? Creating a unique guest experience? Kaja Interieurs could help and relieve the three hotel and catering entrepreneurs of this task. From A to Z. Under the Walt Disney motto: ‘If you can dream it, we can create it’.

“I am convinced that such a well thought out and cleverly executed club concept does not yet exist in the Netherlands. You don’t expect from the outside what you will experience inside.” Says Valentijn Bergers

The collective result is worth it. Not only do we think so. Entree Magazine thinks so too. Loungeclub Valencia has been nominated for the Entree Awards 2022 in the category ‘Best new dine & drink concept 150+ guests’.

The nomination is already a big compliment, but ambitious as they are, Valencia Deventer is going for the win on Nov. 28, 2022. And they just might succeed. Because they more than live up to the expectations of this category. The jury looks mainly at whether the concept is right on both the front and back end. The winner scores highest on leaving an energetic vibe. And knows how to distinguish themselves best in the translation of the concept to the F&B offer, the design, the atmosphere and all that in a contemporary interior with an eye for styling. Everything you need after a long day at work or a wonderful evening out. But anyway, get up there.

Fairground without circus

Truly distinctive and different? Valentijn Bergers (Owner Valencia Deventer) takes us through.

“The whole environment breathes experience. Summer vibes are central in our lounge club. All year round. We bring the outside in and with our enthusiastic team make sure every guest feels welcome. Whether you come for a cocktail, a cup of coffee or an extensive meal. The guest decides which experience to take home. We make sure you enter another world. We let the sunny character of Valencia in Spain come to life in our own way in Deventer.

Most striking is the wink in the interior to a vibrant summer fair. Think of a carousel as a bar, a Ferris wheel as a food elevator or a grab-and-go machine in the restroom. Not only mood creators, but these “carnival attractions” also bring a lot of efficiency to the space. How about 40 extra seats, an extra floor in the business and an extra kitchen.

And that from a sandbox. When you think back on that, you sometimes think how did we manage all that together? Fortunately, Kaja Interieurs was able to advise us on interior design, to inspire us, to relieve us of worries and to use their network. With “just good and quickly arranged” we really do them short, but Kaja switches quickly, knows what she is talking about and it just gets done. From concept to design. From advice to project supervision. From dream to dream interior.”

Through the glasses of the designer

Stefanie Aarninkhof (interior designer at Kaja Interieurs) takes you through her side of this interior design and shares some of the “craziness” she incorporated into the design of this #friendsteam. Valencia Deventer through Stefanie’s glasses….

“You know that feeling you get when you’re on vacation and you’re sitting with a drink watching the sunset. Or when you’re at a festival dancing and enjoying the setting sun. The feeling of the last sun rays of that day on your skin. This was the starting point of the interior design and atmosphere creation for me. All colors and materials were adapted accordingly. Natural hues, the colors of the setting sun, real materials such as wood, stone and concrete form the basis of the interior concept and mood board for Valencia.

For me as a designer, it was very cool to bring “geekiness” and influences of a summer fair into the interior design. The men do like some striking elements, but stylish. So a nod to the fair, but without the circus. On the other hand, from the design phase, we also worked directly with Timo who does the marketing for Valencia. He was inspired by my interior concept and mood board. Conversely, I work inspired by his use of color and form language.”

Oh yes, too much fun not to share

Once the interior design stood, we shared the 3D Designs together through various social media channels. In addition to positive reactions, this already generated reservations. People thought the 3D visuals were already the real situation. Then the real renovation work had yet to begin, but guests have been patient. And that was rewarded with this new hotspot.

On to the win

As far as we are concerned a contender for the win of this Entree Award. A club concept after our own heart. On behalf of team Kaja Interieurs we wish team Valencia Deventer lots of success at the presentation of these awards.

A team of friends

Our friends Max Hertzdahl from Jackies, Michaël Hoeksema from NO11 and Valentijn Bergers from The Lemon Tree and Kaja Interieurs have been working together successfully for years. We are sincerely grateful for that. Every time again we manage to add a hotspot to the city of Deventer. A place with appeal and always innovative. That is why you are winners for us. With or without Entree Award 2022. Your unique perspective on concepts, guts, passion and entrepreneurship is contagious. We look forward to many more great interior design projects together. After all, we can’t imagine that the creative minds of this “team of friends” won’t start bubbling up again or that a new dream will emerge.
