Why solid teak wood is the smart choice

Teak wood is known for its exceptional properties, which you directly benefit from. The wood naturally contains oils that protect it against moisture and weather conditions. This means you can safely place the Bumi side table on a terrace, by the pool, or in an outdoor canteen. Even in busy hospitality environments such as restaurants, cafés, and clubhouses, the material maintains its quality. The natural hardness of teak ensures that the tabletop is resistant to scratches and impacts that inevitably come with intensive use. Stains do not easily penetrate the wood, allowing you to remove most marks with a simple damp cloth. The warm natural brown colour remains beautiful for years and fits almost any interior.

The versatility of this side table is one of its greatest strengths. You can use it in your restaurant as a stylish side table at the bar, on the terrace as a functional piece between lounge seating, or in a hotel lobby as an atmospheric accent. We do recommend occasionally treating the wood with teak oil during the winter months to preserve its natural colour, although this is not essential for durability.

Maintenance that takes hardly any time

In busy hospitality environments, every minute counts. The Bumi side table requires very little time to maintain. For daily maintenance, simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth. Stubborn stains can be removed with mild soapy water. Thanks to the natural oils in teak wood, dirt does not penetrate the material quickly. If you want to preserve the warm brown colour, you can treat the wood once or twice a year with teak oil. If left untreated, the wood will gradually develop a silver-grey patina. This is also a natural process that does not affect the quality of the wood. You can therefore choose the appearance that suits you best.

Colour retention and heat resistance

However, UV exposure can gradually cause the wood to grey over time, which is a natural and gradual process that can easily be slowed with occasional treatment. In terms of heat resistance: teak wood is naturally heat resistant. You can safely place a cup of coffee or tea on the table without immediate ring marks forming. For optimal protection against very hot items such as pots or dishes taken directly from heat, we still recommend using coasters. This extends the lifespan of your tabletop and keeps the surface in excellent condition.
