In conversation with Tom Sans, co-owner of clothing shop SANS

Scoring together with hospitality, also in our company canteen.

Moving of SANS

Together with his brother Nick, Tom runs the company SANS. Their focus? A particularly wide range of women’s, men’s and children’s clothes of different brands. With a large physical shop in Rijssen and a successful online shop, these men are a known name in the fashion world. To boost their ambition and continue to meet customer demand, it was time to expand their warehouse. SANS’ warehouse recently moved from Rijssen to Nijverdal.

Employees central

A new location, a new building with a lot of potential and all kinds of ideas for creating a great company canteen. A canteen that matches the ambition and family character of SANS and where employees experience coziness and hospitality. But where do you start with your layout? Because lots of cool ideas do not yet constitute a suitable design or a cleverly thought-out interior design. This was something these entrepreneurs also encountered in practice. And that’s when Kaja Interieurs came into the picture.

‘We wanted a cozy and luxurious interior, not too sleek and clean. That doesn’t suit us. A company canteen with a real hospitality atmosphere. That is why we chose Kaja. SANS and Kaja just clicked from the first moment on.’

A company canteen with hospitality appeal

Ideas, wishes, needs and functionalities for the design and interior of the new company canteen, the Sans brothers had them. One thing was certain; it should not be a boring canteen where nobody actually likes to sit. It should really have its own character and be almost a magnet for employees. A place where people can unwind or have lunch. Atmospheric, cozy and welcoming. And also room for fun. This was the input for the ‘design sprint‘ that Kaja Interiors deployed for this project.

The result? A company canteen that fits SANS like a warm coat, a hospitality experience that can be summarized as ‘Step into Style’, and all this well within budget.

Work hard, play hard

Although Tom is not sure, he says: “My brother and I started the online shop together from our physical shop in Rijssen and have been working very hard together for years. Perhaps our family bond has played a role in being able to move quickly and determine the atmosphere and character of the new interior. Cosiness and warmth.”

Work hard, play hard, that is the motto of SANS. In terms of experience, the company canteen could certainly reflect this sporty character. During the design sprint, Kaja’s designers were given complete freedom in designing the new interior. But one thing was certain: the pool table should get a nice spot. That’s how we score points. And we more than succeeded.

Kaja design sprint

The Kaja design sprint. What does that entail? It is a unique approach where we come up with an appropriate, catchy and smart interior design with a hospitality character in no time. A special, in-house developed design sprint or ‘pressure cooker session’ to come up with ‘hospitality concepts for the office’. Think of company restaurants, company canteens, company lounges or work cafés.

Working together from the first click

What Tom and Nick particularly appreciated about the cooperation between SANS and Kaja was the click and communication. “Those were just really good,” Tom says. The lines of communication were short, the communication was clear and honest, the switch was made quickly and everyone was aware of what had to happen during the execution.

Thank you for your trust and great cooperation!

For us, Kaja has been much more valuable for this project than we had expected or hoped for beforehand.’
